Time to Change

She looks at them
Their hair so amazing
How they pull off wearing their clothes
How they fit in to their group so well
She envies them
She wants to be like them
To reach out and hope that some of their charm
Will come off on her
She watches in awe
She tries to look like that
But she's just too plain
Everyone tells her they like her better that way
She can hardly stand it
She longs to be like that
She longs for the bright colored hair
The bright clothes
The piercings and tattoos
Having fun and looking different
She wants it all
She longs to leave this place and start over
She wants to pack up and leave for good
She wants to be like that
She wants to forget him
Will she do it?
Is she brave enough?
Am I? she asks herself
She thinks it over for days
Now she's standing at the door, suitcases in hand
I am, she says.
I can do this.
I'll be okay.
I might be back but I have to do this.
She doesn't look back
